Edifier R1280T Bookshelf Speakers Review – They’re worth it
Awesome sound quality, even at lower volumes.
Rich tonality and responsive bass even without a subwoofer.
The wires are a bit flimsy.
The treble and bass controls on the speakers don’t alter the sound significantly.
When listening to music at high volumes, there might appear some noticeable distortion.
The bass might overpower the music at the medium levels.
The Edifier R1280T are affordable powered bookshelf speakers can boast of a number of cool features. They are super easy to use thanks to the AUX input, which allows users to connect them to any device that has a dual RCA or a 3.5 mm headphone output.
One of the Edifier R1280T bookshelf speakers (the main one) has volume, bass, and treble controls on its side. Plus, to make the use process simpler, the volume can be adjusted with the help of a handy remote.
The speakers are around 9 inches tall, which means they are rather compact and can be used even if you have a limited space. The overall design looks sleek and has a hint of that classy style. It will fit nicely in any interior.
Who It’s For
These powered speakers would be an excellent option for someone who lives in a small apartment or simply doesn’t want something bulky and big. Also, the R1280T are ideal for people with a limited budget.
Because this model is not considered suitable for professional use, I would suggest it for home and casual listening. I used it to enjoy my favorite songs and movies, and these little speakers were more than enough for such an entertaining pastime.
The first thing I’ve noticed about these powered bookshelf speakers when I unpacked them for this review was their weight. Being on the heavier side, they hide some high-quality parts inside and promise durability in use.
What I also love about this model is, of course, the sound quality. The bass is super powerful, and the tonality range is quite impressive. I used my R1280T without a subwoofer and still could enjoy the depth of sound and the richness of bass.
Even at lower volumes, the sound was crisp and smooth — isn’t it what we all appreciate? I mean, we can’t always listen to music at 100% volume (especially if we don’t want out neighbors to hate us).
Finally, what might attract you about these bookshelf speakers is their price. This is an awesome entry-level model for people who need something simple, compact, but still great in terms of performance. These speakers are a “no-frills” option that is very budget-friendly.
The first thing I’ve noticed when testing the Edifier R1280T speakers for my review was the quality of the wires. They are quite thin, so you need to be careful if you don’t want them to break not long after the purchase.
Another downside for me was the fact that bass and treble controls on the main speaker didn’t really do anything noticeable to the sound in terms of enhancement. You can play with the settings if you want, but don’t expect any significant changes in the sound quality.
I’ve also noted that these speakers offer a very strong bass. Well, such a cool advantage turns into a con when listening to music at medium volumes. The bass tends to overpower the rest of the sounds (unless you’re listening to something soft and smooth). It’s just a thing to keep in mind.
I can finish my review by saying (with all my confidence) that these speakers are among the best ones in this price category. They are very nicely built and offer a great performance for such a friendly price.
