Onkyo CP-1050 Direct-Drive Turntable

Onkyo CP-1050 Direct-Drive Turntable

Looking for a simple and classy vinyl player with straightforward features? Then check this one out.

The Onkyo CP-1050 is a direct drive turntable with handy features. This deck is present on the market for a really fair price.

The CP1050 features a smooth low-torque direct-drive motor and supports 2-speed options (33 1/3 and 45 RPM).

This turntable comes with vibration-damping resonance-reducing medium density fiberboard (MDF), die-cast 12-inch aluminum platter with a quartz-lock control system, and slip-mat. Also, a 7-inch adaptor is supplied what is really rare on a decks market. Not many vinyl players do have such a feature.

The moving-magnet cartridge has a high voltage output and the availability of stylus replacement. This feature makes this deck a great choice for novices.

The Onkyo is equipped with aluminum static-balance S-shaped tonearm, not fixed headshell, and counterweight adjustment that can be controlled. The gold-plated pin type RCA phono connectors are also featured.

The CP-1050 doesn’t have a USB output and built-in phono preamp. No USB output means you won’t be able to directly connect the deck with your PC and digitize tracks. If you don’t have a phono input available on your home stereo system, then you would need to spend some extra money for an external phono preamp.

If you care about the deck’s appearance, then dust cover that can be removed is for sure something that you will enjoy about this CP-1050 turntable. Want to have a fancy looking deck? Just take the dust cover off. I personally prefer when it is off.

Performance

When it comes to performance, this classy vinyl player is really great.

The absence of complications that this direct-drive turntable offers is just cool. No mess with belts, quartz locked speed, easy accessible start/stop and speed change buttons. What can be better?

In case of Onkyo turntable, only the performance can be better than the simplicity it offers.

A high-quality MDF along with die-cast 12-inch aluminum platter guarantee a smooth and stable rotation. While the low-noise motor and thick rubber mat effectively cut down the vibration and protect your vinyl. Thanks to anti-skate control adjustment and good slip mat any distortions in tracking are reduced and the sound is super clear and dynamic.

The setting up process of this device is pretty simple and direct. The CP-1050 comes with an AT phono cartridge that is mounted to the not fixed head shell. You need to simply insert the head shell into the tonearm, nothing more difficult than that.  The head shell along with an adjustable counterweight system supports a range of aftermarket cartridges. The CP-1050 device is easy to adapt and upgrade.

Verdict

Onkyo-CP-1050Well, this Onkyo CP-1050 direct-drive turntable with simple straightforward features is for sure one of the best in the bunch of budget audiophile turntables.

For a fair price, the Onkyo offers a smooth low-torque direct-drive motor, vibration-damping resonance-reducing MDF, die-cast 12-inch aluminum platter with a quartz-lock control system, and a 7-inch adaptor. All these features are great in their simplicity and result in high-performance. Thanks to this, the Onkyo has received many positive reviews.

It doesn’t have DJ specific features, that’s why you won’t have hard time to set up. Everything is so clear and easy.

In case you are interested in transferring your vinyl records to PC, take into the account that Onkyo does not have a USB output and built-in phono preamp.
