Yamaha NS-333 2-Way Bass Reflex Bookshelf Speakers

Yamaha NS-333

  • Awesome stylish design and beautiful finish.
  • Great performance overall, with bright highs, warm mids, and deep lows.
  • Powerful but compact.
  • Reproduce the sound in a very natural manner.
  • A bit on the heavier side, meaning durable and quality construction.

  • More demanding users might feel the lack of bass, which means the subwoofer would be a desirable addition to these speakers.
  • Might be not big enough for large rooms.

These 2-way bookshelf speakers under $300 by Yamaha are more than just entry-level monitors. They are compact, stylish, very nicely made, and most importantly, perform like little beasts.

The Yamaha NS-333 model features a 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter and a 5-inch cone woofer in each speaker. The construction also includes waveguide horns, which serve to reflect the sound in order to direct it more towards you for the most immersive experience possible.

The speakers are quite compact and measure only 12 inches in height, which will be suitable for almost any living space. They have a stylish matte finish and come in classic black cabinets. The front grill is removable, so you can either hide or reveal the tweeters and woofers based on your personal preferences.

Who It’s For

The NS-333 bookshelf monitors by Yamaha are an ideal option for novice audiophiles who aren’t ready to invest in something high-end but still want a potent audio equipment.

Also, these speakers are better for smaller rooms or apartments. They can deliver a very powerful sounding that will be enough if the area you are going to use them in is not exceedingly spacious.

This is an excellent option for people who appreciate the natural-sounding music reproduction. These monitors can also make a great addition to your home theater or sound system, enhancing the performance of your equipment and adding a bit more depth and layering to the overall sound.

We want to start this model review saying how much we love the appearance of these little speakers. They look very neat and expensive, and it’s something every user will love, too.

Another cool thing about this model is that it reproduces music and sounds in a very natural, realistic way. This is actually one of the main goals of the Yamaha company: delivering the pure, organic, and original sound.

And, of course, we’ve got to mention the way these compact speakers perform. They deliver a crisp, bright sound at highs, offer some depth at bass and sub-bass frequencies, and bring in a balanced, warm sounding at midranges. They do offer a very potent performance given their size. And they only improve with time after the break-in period.

The biggest drawback of these NS-333 speakers is in their size. Being a rather compact model, they might not be enough for larger rooms and areas. So, while delivering a nice sound, they just might be unable to fill a spacious room with it completely.

Another concern that we have will only be a problem if you plan to use the speakers as a part of your sound or theater system. You see, while being a part of the audio ensemble, the speakers might lack some distinctiveness at lows, which means you’ll need to pair them up with a subwoofer.

Our Verdict

Yamaha-NS-333-2-Way-Bass-Reflex-Bookshelf-SpeakersOverall, the Yamaha NS-333 offer an impressive performance. They are sturdy and nicely made, which promises durability. And most importantly, they deliver an amazingly balanced, realistic sound at different frequency rates.
